    Just stopped by Sissy/Cissy's store while out running errands to let her know I'd seen her on your channel. She didn't know about it and was going to check it out when she gets home.

    Small world. Sissy is a good friend of my wife. Did you know that just to the east of Saint Simons Sound is a major breeding ground for Great White, Bull, and Hammerhead sharks? So don't fall overboard.😀 There are two research vessels homeported in Brunswick that track the Great Whites, which migrate from the Sound to the Irish coast and back each year.

    Welcome to the GA coast. As I mentioned in another episode, my wife and I live on Saint Simons Island, and we both grew up on the Island. Well, I grew older but never up. You got to experience how we keep track of the seasons on the coast: Gnat season, horsefly season, deerfly season, mosquito season, tourist season, hurricane season, Braves-lose-in-the-post-season season, and the most important season of all, college football season. We used to take my dad's boat from SSI to Cumberland on the weekends to camp there. We were teenagers and therefore idiots and sometimes forgot to check the weather. Then we had to be rescued by my best friend's dad, who owned all the tugboats for the port of Brunswick. Och weel. I learned at an early age that I should fly off ships and not drive them. Fly Navy.

    It was funny. One evening I was surfing RUclips. I watch boat for sale videos. Anyway I came across a 1987, 56’ Ocean Alexander for sale. I realized that it was y’all’s boat. It was already sold. Y’all’s updates y’all did made such a huge difference. Beautiful boat to have spent a year on. Great video as always. I particularly liked the electrical issue because I'm wondering if I could be impacted. In a house, it is not uncommon to have neutral and ground connected. However, that does not mean you should. But, is it on a boat? Clearly it was on yours. Gosh, is it on mine???? Continued safe passage folks.

    I understand your concerns, but i think your anxiety level would make me want to give up on the trip. As a "captain" worrying about everything, having someone echoing all that would push me over the edge. running aground would definitely suck, but i don't think it would be life threatening under those conditions.

    • @TheBoomershines
      @TheBoomershines 6 дней назад

      Thankfully the captain and I usually worried about totally different things 🤣. I was focused on navigational hazards and he focused on internal hazards aboard the boat. It all worked out for us. And you are right, running aground in the ICW wouldn’t be life threatening but it could certainly be expensive and time consuming. Neither of which is ideal.

    My wife and I are just now considering doing the "Loop" We are on the other side with our kids, youngest just about to graduate. We've done some RVing with them. One thing we found that makes adventures be much less stressful is to avoid putting very many items on the daily agenda. Y'all are doing the right thing cutting out the things that don't matter so much. Or, at least, putting them low on the priority list! Get the raw footage, and edit when you can! 5 years from now lol. One thing for sure I have to remind myself of, just because I know what I want to do, doesn't mean the crew has read my mind and knows what to do. Whether in an RV or boat, briefing evolutions and communicating a LOT is the key to getting tasks done without too many hurt feelings. It's awesome that yall decided things weren't going the way you liked and you turned around to reset and get it figured out.

    Ah zo, you are a jelly donut? Sorry, couldn't resist. When we lived in Germany our German neighbors always got a good laugh at that. Greetings from the Golden Isles. Too bad we just discovered your channel, otherwise we'd have been happy to host you when you passed by Saint Simons. BTW, are y'all any relation to all those Boomershine billboards we see all around Atlanta? We're really enjoying your channel. Best of luck on your next adventures. Fly Navy. Go Dawgs.

    Oh we weren't sure about you guys but you got us with that bit towards the end - reassuring yourselves about how little time you had with your children, how the weeks at home just disappear - all of that makes the inevitable stress and financial worry (which seem to never go away with children however successful we are!). My wife and I remind ourselves we want to live an adventure story - and even the most tame children's adventure stories have at least MILD PERIL :-).

      I love that! We want our life to be an adventure story too. And it is so true that every adventure has some level of peril. Thanks for hanging in there with us and for this kind comment :)

    I am thoroughly enjoying watching your journey. Cinda you are the brightest light (me referencing your motto shine on 😊). My husband and I have done part of the loop from as far north as Virginia Beach and as far south as Savannah. Have done some of Florida as well, but haven’t connected with where we left off in Savannah. We are one of those small trailerable Ranger Tugs. I know how hard it is and how little rest you seem to get while boating. There always seems to be something. However, back to you guys. I love y’ll. What a sweet little family y’ll are. Thanks for sharing the journey with the rest of us.

    She’s a beautiful beamy boat. Out of all the boats y’all looked at, y’all made an excellent choice. I would say that I can’t wait for the makeover, but I had seen that episode already. Very nice 👍🏼

    Are you any relation to the Boomershine auto dealer from Atlanta? I remember seeing that dealership's badges on many cars when I was in college in Athens. Beaufort is one of my favorite cities anywhere. My first trip there was in December 1974 and I was smitten by the place at the age of 13. In my opinion Beaufort has all of the history and charm of Charleston without the insane tourist crowds and exorbitant pricing.
